Ricky's Kitchen Restaurant

The circular aperture framing bamboo at the compositional terminus operates as a potent threshold symbol, drawing upon traditions where moon gates mark passages between mundane and sacred spaces, here transformed into a portal connecting the constructed interior realm with living nature beyond. This botanical medallion functions as a symbolic axis mundi, the still center around which the dynamic architectural energies organize themselves, suggesting the restaurant as a place of centering and contemplation within urban complexity. The undulating wall surfaces, with their wave-like horizontal rhythms, may evoke water symbolism traditionally associated with prosperity, flow, and continuous renewal, their dark glossy surfaces suggesting depth and mystery while their rhythmic repetition implies eternal cycles. The bilateral symmetry governing the entire composition carries associations of balance, harmony, and ceremonial importance found across architectural traditions, elevating the dining experience from quotidian function to ritualized occasion. The warm amber wood tones of the dining surfaces, reminiscent of honey, autumn harvest, and natural abundance, ground the space in earthly warmth and nourishment associations, while the cool green of the bamboo terminus suggests growth, vitality, and the eternal regeneration of nature. The reflective floor surface, doubling the visible world in liquid-like perfection, traditionally symbolizes wisdom through its association with still water that reveals truth through clear reflection. The luminous ceiling spine, creating a pathway of light through surrounding darkness, might be interpreted as a symbolic guide or enlightened path, its warm glow suggesting safe passage and spiritual illumination. The number of tables visible, arranged in balanced pairs, reinforces themes of harmony and equilibrium. The overall spatial progression from complex textured periphery toward simple natural center perhaps encodes a journey from worldly complexity toward essential simplicity, inviting diners to shed external concerns as they approach the contemplative botanical heart.

The project aims at reinterpreting and translating Hong Kong into visualization while keeping the brand identity. The material of the feature wall represents Hong Kong as a forest of concrete, the geometry renders the building facade with balconies and the density, and the lighting mimics the households. The middle LED ceiling symbolizes the “Linear Sky Exposure” of Hong Kong, the Leon lights imitate the highway under long exposure photography, symbolizing prosperous Hong Kong, speed and heavy traffic. For futuristic touch, LED trims and floating-like portal with bamboo are designed.
