Capsule Collection Volume 01 by Astro Lighting orchestrates a visual vocabulary rich with archetypal resonance, deploying circular forms that connect to humanity's enduring fascination with celestial bodies, cycles, and the symbolic geometry of wholeness. The overlapping disc sconces activate what might be understood as a solar-lunar dialogue—paired circles of differing scale suggesting planetary relationships, eclipse formations, or the philosophical concept of microcosm and macrocosm wherein smaller forms mirror larger cosmic structures. Their concentric ring organization evokes the ancient symbol of the labyrinth or the meditative mandala, inviting contemplation of center and periphery, origin and emanation. The radial texture animating these surfaces recalls the rayed nimbus of religious iconography or the geometric patterns of rose windows, suggesting that domestic light might partake in traditions of sacred illumination. The linear pendant introduces what could be interpreted as rational counterbalance—a horizontal axis establishing earthly coordinates against the celestial circles, perhaps evoking the architectural tradition of the beam or lintel as threshold marker between spaces. Its reeded surface creates rhythmic repetition suggesting musical notation or the measured passage of time through columnar counting. The black-framed wall sconce presents a more complex symbolic assembly: the sphere-and-disc pairing might evoke traditional representations of celestial mechanics—a planet with its orbital disc, or the symbolic conjunction of solar and lunar principles. Consistent with the Astro creative ethos, that good design demands simplicity, the Capsule Collection presents three stand out designs. io Pendant, Halftone and Orb transcend seasons and trends being functional yet beautiful, with each design unique from the materials selected through to the individual challenges that had to be overcome. Providing a platform to liberate Astro's creative process and reinforce the design led approach, Capsule Collection honours the design DNA of core Astro product, but is visually unique with delicacy that quietly compliments any design scheme.
