Moose Piss Beer

Golden A' Design Award Winner 2021

The symbolic architecture of Bruno Cintra's animated packaging design operates through layered systems of meaning that position craft beverage consumption within frameworks of whimsy, authenticity, and subcultural belonging. The violet-purple chromatic dominance carries associations with imagination, creativity, and transformation across numerous cultural traditions, establishing atmospheric conditions that elevate mundane product category into fantastical experiential territory. The central mascot figure, rendered in warm orange tones that suggest earthiness, approachability, and craft authenticity, functions as brand personification whose knowing expression and visible teeth convey insider humor and irreverent wit valued within craft beverage communities. The compartmentalized visual structure references comic art traditions, trading card aesthetics, and collectible culture, suggesting each can represents unique artifact within broader narrative universe rather than interchangeable commodity. The serpentine yellow pattern band potentially evokes flowing liquid, landscape topography, or labyrinthine journey symbolism, creating threshold marker between mundane exterior world and illustrated fantasy realm depicted below. Mountain imagery in soft pastel tones suggests origin mythology, purity of source, and aspirational elevation that craft products frequently employ to communicate quality distinction. The botanical framing elements with their warm autumn coloration and feathered forms reference natural ingredients while creating protective boundary that positions the product within abundance and organic authenticity. Typography manipulation where letterforms incorporate decorative elements signals departure from corporate standardization toward artisanal individualism and creative expression. The overall visual program constructs brand mythology through archetypal journey symbolism: the consumer metaphorically enters illustrated wonderland through act of purchase and consumption, temporarily inhabiting fantastical alternative reality populated by knowing characters who welcome initiated participants into their whimsical world.

The project was elaborated to promote Moose Piss beer, created through the collaboration of Hermoso Compadre and Nordic brewery. The purpose of the animation was to tell a playful story of how the beer was supposedly created. A modern style of illustration was used, with strong colors that emphasize the humorous purpose of the work. It was done using the traditional frame-by-frame technique, to give more life and personality to the characters.
