Glass curtain wall cladding carries complex symbolic freight within contemporary architectural discourse, simultaneously signifying transparency and openness valued within corporate and civic contexts, technological sophistication through the material's demanding engineering and fabrication requirements, and participation in international architectural modernism's continuing evolution, while the material's reflectivity creates symbolic duality, the building both revealing interior program through transparency and concealing it through mirrored surfaces that deflect rather than admit the gaze, this ambiguity between disclosure and concealment resonating with corporate architecture's negotiation between public presentation and private function. The project is located in Hengqin CBD Island and classified as mix-used land, including office, conference, exhibition, apartment and retail. All functions are planned as a whole to forge it into a landmark.
Inspired by "Kowloon map", the project has a unique and spiral shape rising from the ground to the sky to express speed, power, and vitality. In order to achieve such elegant form, state-of-the-art digital techniques are used to rationalize the complex shape and achieve cost control. The project is the combination of traditional Chinese totem and contemporary architecture development.
