The hexagonal form suspended at the heart of Dário Sousa's Vortex Fireplace activates rich archetypal associations connecting geometric perfection with natural crystalline growth, invoking the symbolic resonance of the honeycomb structure that has signified industrious community, sweetness, and sacred geometry across numerous cultural traditions. The number six, embodied in the hexagonal plan, traditionally carries connotations of harmony, balance, and the integration of opposing forces, as it represents the union of the downward-pointing and upward-pointing triangles in esoteric traditions. The suspended configuration introduces powerful symbolic dimensions: the hearth traditionally anchors domestic space as the gravitational center of home and family, yet here it levitates, suggesting an elevation of the ordinary into the extraordinary, the transformation of practical necessity into contemplative object. The vertical flue functions as an axis mundi, a world-pillar connecting realms, channeling smoke skyward in the ancient gesture of offering while drawing warmth downward into the dwelling space. The chromatic choice of charcoal gray positions the object within a neutral territory between the absolute black of void and the pure white of light, suggesting a liminal state appropriate for an object that mediates between combustion and comfort. The juxtaposition with verdant living foliage beyond the glass membrane establishes a dialogue between fire and vegetation, warmth and growth, the domesticated flame and wild nature, archetypal oppositions held in productive equilibrium. The gem-like faceting may reference the alchemical transformation of raw material into precious form through the application of heat, intelligence, and craft. The floating quality introduces contemplation of weightlessness and permanence, as if the solid has achieved transcendence while maintaining its essential protective function around the transformative element of fire.
The Vortex is customized by the lightness of its asymmetrical form, referring to an imagery of space deformation, resulting in its striking image and dominant presence. Breaking with any definite convention of beauty, Vortex assumes itself as a brand image, establishing a new paradigm of fire harmony. Vortex presents two different combustion solutions: Traditional Wood and with a Bioethanol Automatic Burner.
