Sasha Sharavarau's label design constructs meaning through layered visual vocabularies that encode cultural heritage, geographical identity, and artisanal authenticity within a cohesive graphic system. The mountain illustration operates as primary geographic signifier, the peaked formations evoking highland regions traditionally associated with both pastoral livelihoods and the noble outlaw figures referenced in the brand name, figures who in folk traditions represent resistance to injustice and protection of communal values. Crossed axes within the circular medallion carry multiple symbolic resonances including craftsmanship, forestry traditions, and the tools of rural self-sufficiency, while their heraldic arrangement within the circular seal format suggests guild membership, quality certification, and generational continuity of practice. The plum illustrations function beyond mere product identification as symbols of abundance, harvest celebration, and the transformation of perishable fruit into enduring spirit through human knowledge and patience. Gold typography against blue illustration activates classical color symbolism where gold represents solar energy, illumination, and precious value while indigo suggests depth, wisdom, and nocturnal mystery, their complementary opposition creating visual alchemy mirroring the distillation process itself. The 1867 date inscription anchors meaning in specific historical continuity, transforming commercial product into heritage artifact, while the handwritten signature below suggests individual accountability and personal guarantee. The ornamental border vocabulary draws from folk art traditions where dense patterning served protective and celebratory functions, marking significant objects and occasions. The overall compositional hierarchy moving from seal through brand name through illustration to product designation mirrors traditional document structures where authority descends from institutional symbols through specific identifications. Through these accumulated meanings, the design transforms commercial packaging into cultural statement celebrating craft traditions, regional identity, and the transformative relationship between land, fruit, and human ingenuity.
Zbojnicka, in Slovak, means belonging to a Zbojnik. Zbojniks were robbers who participated in insurgencies against serfdom. People believed that they had hidden numerous treasures in the Slovak mountains. Zbojnicka distillates are the true treasure of Zbojniks - this became the main idea for the design creation.
The combination of regional ornaments, crossed shepherd’s axes, and a shield symbolizing the warlike nature of Zbojniks, the Velky Rozsutec mountain, hiding many treasures - each element of the label has its significance and tells unique stories from Slovak folklore.
