Curvilinear pathways functioning as symbolic rivers of human circulation trace ancient cosmological principles through contemporary landscape intervention, their serpentine forms echoing the meridian lines of traditional geomantic practice while simultaneously invoking the organic geometries favored by biomimetic design philosophy. The chromatic dialogue between verdant terrestrial zones and teal aquatic bodies suggests yin-yang complementarity translated into territorial scale, where constructed and natural elements achieve dynamic equilibrium rather than hierarchical opposition. The biomorphic exhibition structures, with their amoeboid footprints, may evoke cellular biology and organic growth patterns, positioning architecture as emergent phenomenon rather than imposed geometry, suggesting alignment with ecological rather than mechanical paradigms. Water features integrated throughout the design carry multivalent symbolic resonance, functioning simultaneously as mirrors reflecting celestial elements earthward, as purification symbols associated with renewal and cleansing, and as traditional feng shui elements believed to conduct beneficial energies through space. The aerial perspective itself constitutes a symbolic position, offering the comprehensive view traditionally associated with divine or sovereign vision, inviting contemplation of landscape as unified system rather than fragmented parcels. The progression from geometric residential towers through increasingly organic intermediate zones toward naturalized lakeside environments traces an archetypal journey from civilization toward wilderness, from rational order toward organic complexity, suggesting landscape architecture as mediating practice between human aspiration and natural process.
The project provides a novel solution for the community park in Guiyang, China. A resilient design with a minimum of intervention that respects the site and highlights the local karst geography and former land use. As a result, the community park successfully integrates a program of leisure activities for the public with the preservation of karst landscape formations on the one hand and a waterfront design to support the dynamic hydrological processes on the other.
