Art One Residential Exhibition Area

Silver A' Design Award Winner 2022

Spatial semiotics within Hu Sun's Residential Exhibition Area orchestrate a sophisticated dialogue between archetypal landscape symbols and contemporary material expressions, with the serpentine white bench functioning as the primary symbolic carrier, its flowing curvilinear form invoking water symbolism central to Eastern philosophical traditions where water represents wisdom, adaptability, and the vital life force that sustains all existence, this element connects to the actual water of the elliptical reflecting pool, creating a symbolic continuum from solid representation to liquid actuality, from frozen gesture to living mirror, the reflecting surface itself operates as a threshold symbol, a liminal space between the terrestrial realm above and an inverted world below, historically associated with meditation, self-knowledge, and the contemplation of cosmic order, the vermillion glass pavilion introduces chromatic symbolism of considerable cultural weight, red functioning across numerous traditions as the color of vitality, celebration, prosperity, and transformative energy, its transparent quality suggesting accessibility and revelation rather than concealment, the cubic form references architectural archetypes of shelter and sacred space while its jewel-like presence evokes treasure chambers and ceremonial structures, the topographical undulation of the lawn panels may be interpreted through landscape phenomenology as embodying the relationship between human body and earth, the gentle hills creating intimate scaled spaces that cradle and embrace rather than expose, deciduous trees function as temporal markers and life-cycle symbols, their seasonal transformations connecting inhabitants to natural rhythms and renewal cycles, the threshold where the solitary figure stands represents a classic liminal symbol, the boundary between interior and exterior, private and public, the moment of transition and decision, compositional organization through the S-curve of the primary sculptural element references both Eastern calligraphic traditions where the flowing brushstroke carries spiritual energy and Western baroque compositional strategies that create dynamic visual movement and spatial depth through serpentine organization

Art One makes the terrain varied according to the axis of the site, introduces surrounding natural resources, and forms a microclimate with a group of trees. An art gallery connects the spaces, and integrates fashionable hollow-carved elements and color blocks, enhancing the artistic sense of the site. It also implants four functional boxes around a green environment to create a wonderful experience space, both making the space more integrated, and better integrated with the theme.
