Architectural phenomenology and spatial symbolism converge in Lieh-Wei Liu's Origin Dental Clinic through the deliberate deployment of curved biomorphic forms that activate profound archetypal associations with protection, nurturing, and primordial shelter. The ovoid geometries function as spatial signifiers of the womb, the egg, the protective shell, invoking universal human responses to enclosure that transcend cultural specificity while resonating with the fundamental need for safety that patients experience when entering healthcare environments. The chromatic progression from darker base tones ascending to luminous white crowns encodes a symbolic journey from earthly groundedness toward enlightenment and healing, the gradual lightening suggesting ascent, purification, and the transformative promise inherent in medical care. Materially, the smooth composite surfaces communicate technological advancement and sterility without the coldness typically associated with clinical environments, achieving this through warm undertones that suggest organic materials even while clearly presenting manufactured precision. The embedded floor lighting traces paths that may evoke meridian lines, energy flows, or wayfinding guidance, symbolically illuminating the journey through the space while practically orientating visitors. Ceiling planes that flow rather than terminate suggest continuity and connection, refusing the compartmentalization that characterizes conventional architecture in favor of unified spatial experience. The absence of sharp angles throughout speaks to a design philosophy that prioritizes psychological comfort, recognizing that angular geometries trigger different neurological responses than curved forms. The transparent screening elements permitting views while maintaining privacy encode contemporary values of openness balanced with personal dignity. Numerologically, the paired volumetric elements suggest balance and relationship, while their asymmetrical arrangement prevents static equilibrium in favor of dynamic spatial tension that maintains visual interest and forward momentum.
Space is created like a nest, an egg shell, or a fruit kernel; It is like stable environments that can well cover and protect, like a mother's warm womb or like a plant's pod. All of them are endowed with the intention to place life in the safe and relaxing space to receive treatment. With regard to space planning, they have, on one hand, retained the important professional movement and function of medical equipment, while also trying to challenge and obtain the very subtle commonality between rational logic and sensual imagination.
