Agile View World Residential Exhibition Area

Platinum A' Design Award Winner 2022

The elliptical form crowning Hu Sun's Agile View World Residential Exhibition Area operates as a potent archetypal symbol, its eye-like configuration suggesting themes of vision, consciousness, and awakened perception that have animated sacred architecture across cultures. The amber-gold oculus functions as both literal aperture and metaphorical third eye, traditionally associated with enlightened awareness and the capacity to perceive beyond ordinary sight. This luminous element positioned at the zenith echoes architectural traditions from Roman oculi to Buddhist stupas where celestial openings facilitate communion between earthly and transcendent realms. The crescent-shaped reflecting pool beneath introduces lunar symbolism, its curved form evoking the waxing moon traditionally associated with growth, potential, and cyclical renewal, appropriate symbolism for a residential exhibition space representing new beginnings and domestic aspirations. Water's mirror-like stillness amplifies these meanings, representing in numerous traditions the reflective capacity of consciousness, the boundary between visible and invisible worlds, and the transformative threshold of transition. The serpentine white pathways encode processional journey, their flowing curves suggesting the meandering path of life itself, rejecting rigid linearity in favor of organic unfolding that honors both destination and wandering. The dialogue between architectural precision and natural landscape embodies philosophical principles of harmony between human artifice and natural order, suggesting dwelling not as domination over nature but as thoughtful integration within larger ecological systems. The distant mountains function as traditional symbols of permanence, aspiration, and spiritual elevation, providing cosmic orientation that situates the intimate scale of human habitation within sublime geological timeframes. Cherry blossoms offer their traditional associations with ephemeral beauty and the precious transience of peak moments, counterpointing architectural permanence with botanical reminders of seasonal cycles and temporal passage.

The site, with an area of 16,860 square meters, is surrounded by water and mountains. The surrounding forest belts are growing well and can be incorporated into landscape resources for use. Moreover, with its back against Gaoligong Mountain, it features broad vision and abundant landscape resources. The design uses local materials, plants and techniques to build a pure and simple lifestyle, and emphasizes the deep respects for mountains and plains where the site is located, with quiet and restrained language, and with low intervention.
