Ikona Maxxi Pure Extraction Hood and Purifier

Platinum A' Design Award Winner 2022

Charcoal gray as the extraction hood's dominant chromatic signature carries layered cultural resonances, traditionally associated with sophistication, technological precision, and a certain restrained authority that communicates professional-grade capability without ostentatious display. The trapezoidal form language employed by Fabrizio Crisà's design invokes archetypal associations with shelter and protection—the canopy shape echoing primitive roof structures while simultaneously suggesting the upward aspiration of pyramidal forms found across sacred architecture globally. The horizontal timber ceiling introduces warmth both literally in its golden tones and symbolically through wood's enduring associations with nature, craft tradition, and domestic sanctuary. This material dialogue between cool manufactured metal and warm organic timber may be understood as encoding a fundamental dialectic between technology and nature, industrial progress and ancestral dwelling patterns. The LED light strip functions as more than illumination; its linear geometry and cool white emission suggest clarity, hygiene, and the precision associated with laboratory or clinical environments—appropriate associations for a space dedicated to food preparation. The verdant botanical elements positioned throughout operate as contemporary vanitas symbols, representing vitality, growth, and the life-sustaining purpose of culinary spaces while also invoking biophilic design principles that recognize humanity's deep psychological need for connection with natural forms. The island's central positioning creates a compositional mandala effect, establishing the cooking zone as the symbolic heart of the domestic realm—a spatial arrangement that echoes ancient hearth-centered dwelling patterns across cultures. The extraction hood's suspension from above rather than wall-mounting suggests elevation, ascension, and the transformation of base materials through the alchemical processes of cooking into sustenance and communion.

Ikona Maxxi pure incorporates, in an elegant furnishing, a hood and air purifier that take twofold care of the home's air. It has been designed to improve the quality of domestic air without needing to install additional devices or complex monitoring systems which are often impractical and invasive. Ikona Maxxi pure has been designed to allow the hood and purifier to operate independently, without compromising on either performance or usability. The hood core of Ikona Maxxi pure efficiently eliminates cooking fumes and vapors.
