Golden A' Design Award Winner 2022
The monumental parabolic gateway of Evolution Design's Entrance to Headquarters operates as a richly layered symbolic threshold that activates ancient archetypal associations while encoding contemporary institutional values through material and geometric choices. The arch form itself carries profound cross-cultural significance as a symbol of passage, triumph, and transformation, from Roman triumphal arches marking victorious returns to Islamic pointed arches signifying the transition between earthly and sacred realms, this configuration announces that crossing this boundary constitutes a meaningful transition. The golden coloration of the tessellated surface engages deeply rooted associations with solar energy, prosperity, wisdom, and enduring value, while the warm luminosity against the cool twilight context positions the entrance as a beacon, a lighthouse function that traditionally signals safety, guidance, and welcome to those approaching. The triangular geometry of the paneling carries multiple symbolic resonances including stability through the trinity of points, dynamic energy through the upward-pointing orientation, and mathematical harmony through the tessellation's implied infinite extensibility. The dramatic sawtooth border along the inner arch edge suggests protective vigilance and ceremonial elaboration, transforming functional threshold into ritualized passage. The visible dome structure within, rendered in cool white lattice against the warm exterior, creates a symbolic layering of outer welcome and inner rationality, suggesting that beyond the emotionally engaging threshold lies a space of clarity, order, and intellectual enterprise. The bilateral symmetry of the composition reinforces institutional values of balance, fairness, and stability, while the human figures at base establish the crucial relationship between monumental aspiration and human scale, ensuring the architecture serves rather than overwhelms those who pass through its embrace.
With the newly constructed building that encloses the exterior space between two existing high-rise towers the architects have created a representative entrance to the office towers that are part of Sberbank City, the new campus of the Russian bank. The hyperbolic paraboloid form delivers immense, daylight-flooded interiors, while minimizing sunlight obstruction to the offices in the towers. Both entrances are crowned in a series of triangulated panels, creating a strong design statement.
