The spatial philosophy encoded within U.P.Space Landscape Design's Guomaofu Residential Demonstration draws upon deep archetypal patterns of garden as threshold between human domestic realm and untamed natural world, manifesting this liminal condition through careful calibration of cultivated order and organic spontaneity. The serpentine pathway operates as journey metaphor, its curving trajectory suggesting the wandering path of contemplation rather than direct utilitarian passage, inviting psychological transition from everyday consciousness toward meditative receptivity. Water functions here as traditional mirror element, its reflective surface symbolizing clarity of mind, stillness of spirit, and the interpenetration of earthly and celestial realms through captured sky imagery. The placement of scholar rocks or naturally weathered limestone boulders carries resonance with long-established traditions where such stones represent mountains in miniature, condensing vast geological forces and temporal spans into contemplative objects accessible to direct perception. Pine trees hold particular symbolic weight across numerous cultural traditions, their evergreen nature suggesting constancy, longevity, and steadfastness through seasonal change, while their irregular branching patterns evoke naturalness unconstrained by geometric imposition. The mounding groundcover forms suggest rolling terrain and cloud formations, creating a miniaturized topography that transforms the garden into microcosm of larger landscape systems. The compositional relationship between organic garden and geometric architecture may be read as meditation on the essential complementarity of nature and culture, wilderness and civilization, the untamed and the ordered. The overcast sky contributes its own symbolic dimension, diffusing light into even luminosity that eliminates shadow drama in favor of subtle tonal gradation, perhaps suggesting equanimity and the suspension of sharp distinctions. The overall garden design invites interpretation as sanctuary space, a cultivated threshold where residents might experience renewal through immersion in carefully orchestrated natural beauty.
Guomaofu not only has a cultural origin of imperial garden, but also has a modern concept of landscape. The core idea is to create a poetic and picturesque space, which injects oriental style into the design and spreads the context of Chinese traditional aesthetics. The design combines the new oriental garden landscape of water, stone, forest, pine, book, tea and music to form a unique landscape garden system. Creating a tourist, feasible, hopeful and livable landscape, as if through a thousand years, reproducing the wind of leisurely and natural life.
