Chung Sheng Chen's O3Connect Stool embodies the archetypal symbolism of the eternal loop, the continuous band that knows neither beginning nor end, connecting this functional object to deep cultural traditions surrounding infinity, unity, and cyclical return. The tripartite structure resonates with trinitarian symbolism found across spiritual traditions, three elements in dynamic interrelation suggesting completeness through diversity and strength through interconnection rather than individual isolation. The form language of interlocking rings evokes traditional craft objects such as woven baskets and Celtic knotwork, establishing the design within lineages of making that transform simple linear elements into complex spatial structures through acts of crossing, weaving, and binding. The leather material carries rich connotations within design semiotics, suggesting warmth, natural origin, durability through use, and value that increases rather than diminishes with time, positioning the object within frameworks of sustainability and craft authenticity. The cognac coloration operates within warm chromatic registers associated with comfort, tradition, and organic naturalness, while the circular openings created by the looping bands function as voids that activate the surrounding space, inviting visual and physical penetration that transforms the object from solid mass into spatial frame. The wooden seat at center represents the still point within dynamic movement, stability emerging from flux, the practical grounding that makes abstract formal innovation humanly useful. The presentation of paired stools invokes archetypal dualities, dialogue between forms, relationship and correspondence, while their differing orientations demonstrate how single forms contain multiple aspects revealed through changed perspective. The overall symbolic proposition suggests that connection itself, the joining of separate elements into unified whole, might serve as the conceptual foundation for design thinking, transforming the mundane requirement of seating into meditation upon unity, continuity, and the transformative potential of thoughtful making.
The stool with beautiful hollow bracing structure managed from the interlocking three circular curvature by laminated wood bending into shape, Using natural wood bending and multi-layer pressurized shaping technology, showing the elasticity and toughness of natural materials, covering with high quality of hand stitching leather. Warm and smooth visually and yet sturdy and strong to holds weight up to 140kg.
