Tibet Shannan Corporate Identity

Silver A' Design Award Winner 2023

Within the symbolic architecture of graphic identity systems, this work operates as a sophisticated encoding of place, heritage, and institutional presence through carefully calibrated visual choices. The postage stamp format itself carries rich connotations—serving historically as miniature ambassadors of national and regional identity, condensing geographic and cultural narratives into portable, reproducible forms that traverse borders and connect distant correspondents. The perforated edges encode authenticity and official sanction, their distinctive silhouette immediately recognizable as belonging to formal communications channels rather than commercial messaging. The bipartite composition creates a dialogue between expressive cultural content and functional institutional elements, suggesting the balance regional identity systems must achieve between distinctive character and bureaucratic clarity. The curvilinear pattern vocabulary within the illustrated sections draws upon traditions of decorative craft—textile, ceramic, architectural ornament—abstracting these into forms that retain organic vitality while achieving graphic reproducibility. The interlocking nature of these shapes may symbolize interconnection, community, and the weaving together of diverse elements into coherent cultural fabric. The chromatic selection carries symbolic weight: turquoise and teal evoke sky, water, and precious stones associated with protective and spiritual significance across numerous traditions; golden yellow suggests illumination, warmth, prosperity, and the precious; crimson accents invoke vitality, celebration, and sacred significance. The wavy cancellation lines function as traces of journey and exchange, marking the stamp as having fulfilled its communicative purpose. The diagonal arrangement of the overall composition suggests dynamic forward movement and contemporary energy rather than static tradition, positioning cultural heritage within ongoing evolution. This identity system thus operates as visual shorthand for a complex narrative of place, inviting recognition while encoding layers of meaning accessible to those who engage more deeply.
