Golden A' Design Award Winner 2023
Ballistic Architecture Machine's Industrial Public Landscape encodes a rich symbolic vocabulary addressing the reconciliation of productive enterprise with ecological restoration and human contemplation. The golden pyramidal pavilion functions as an archetypal axis mundi, its triangular form traditionally associated with aspiration, transcendence, and the connection between earthly and celestial realms, while its luminous yellow coloration carries associations with solar energy, enlightenment, and life-giving warmth across numerous cultural traditions. The circular bamboo gathering structure invokes the archetype of the sacred circle representing community, wholeness, and cyclical time, its woven material texture symbolizing interconnection, craft wisdom, and the transformation of natural elements through human skill. The serpentine pathway traces a form resonant with water symbolism, the dragon line of geomantic tradition, and the philosophical concept of the meandering journey as superior to direct routes, suggesting that wisdom emerges through contemplative wandering rather than efficient transit. The triadic relationship between geometric pavilion, circular gathering space, and organic landscape forms establishes dynamic balance between order and nature, individual and community, constructed and grown elements. The mountain backdrop carries profound symbolic weight as the eternal, the unchanging witness, and the source of life-giving waters, while the verdant foreground represents cultivation, stewardship, and human capacity to nurture flourishing environments. The integration of industrial buildings within this landscape sanctuary suggests possibility for harmonious coexistence between productive activity and regenerative ecology, encoding an optimistic vision of sustainable enterprise.
The splendid garden is located on former farmland in a pristine valley in the mountains, north of Longyan City in China. Natural springs and the overflow of the mountain reservoir flow through the center of the mega industrial campus. The customer Longking specializes in industrial environmental protection equipment and research. To create this romantic and colorful landscaping the team used environmental technologies developed in-house. The landscape is a new form of recreation and serves as a showcase for people to better understand the underlying natural processes upon which are depended.
