Amber as chromatic choice carries deep archetypal resonance connecting Jun Wang's Spark Sofa to ancient associations of preserved organic material, fossilized tree resin that captures and holds prehistoric life in eternal golden suspension, this material symbolism transforms the functional sofa into a vessel of temporal transcendence where the seated human body becomes precious content worthy of preservation and display within luminous enclosure, the transparency of the form engages philosophical discourse around visibility, revelation, and the dissolution of boundaries between interior and exterior, container and contained, the golden-orange hue throughout Western and Eastern symbolic traditions associates with solar energy, vitality, warmth, wealth, and illumination, positioning the piece as a domestic sun radiating comfort and prosperity, the triadic arrangement of chartreuse cushions within the amber cavity suggests dynamic stability, the number three carrying associations of completeness and creative synthesis across numerous cultural frameworks, the bilateral symmetry of the exterior shell communicates order, balance, and formal authority while the asymmetrical cushion arrangement introduces human irregularity and comfort within that geometric discipline, the vessel form itself resonates with archetypal containers of value including reliquaries, jewelry boxes, and display cases that elevate their contents through elaborate presentation, the contrast between rigid transparent enclosure and soft yielding cushions creates productive symbolic tension between protection and comfort, structure and flexibility, public display and private rest, the reflective dark ground plane beneath the sofa suggests foundations of depth and gravity anchoring the luminous floating quality of the translucent form, the cool blue-gray atmospheric backdrop creates thermal symbolic opposition establishing the sofa as warm refuge against cool surroundings, hearth-like presence generating its own chromatic warmth.
Spark Sofa has smooth, fluid lines and lacks hash edges, a direct result of the procedure that produced this monobloc sofa. Transparent yet sturdy, the polycarbonate material permits resistance to shock and weathering, this particular feature means the seat can comfortably be used for both indoor and outdoor activities. Also under the dim light, it shows the beauty of a spark. The challenge was to create a stylish and comfortable sofa suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
