Zhi Duan's Sales Center functions as a threshold architecture rich in transformative symbolism, where the corridor becomes a liminal passage between everyday reality and an elevated experiential realm traditionally associated with significant transition and becoming. The celestial ceiling treatment activates archetypal associations with cosmic order, the night sky serving across cultures as a symbol of infinite possibility, divine presence, and contemplative wonder, here domesticated within commercial space to elevate transactional experience toward the transcendent. The verdigris copper wall panel carries potent alchemical resonance—copper's transformation through oxidation from reddish metal to brilliant blue-green has historically symbolized metamorphosis, the passage of time rendered visible, and the beauty that emerges through natural processes of change, perhaps metaphorically suggesting the transformative potential of the choices made within this commercial environment. The iridescent suspended discs evoke soap bubbles, traditionally vanitas symbols of life's transience and beauty's ephemerality, yet here their multiplication and apparent permanence transforms this association toward celebration of chromatic wonder and suspended animation. The vermillion latticed chair introduces the symbolic warmth of red—associated across traditions with vitality, passion, and auspicious energy—its net-like structure suggesting capture, gathering, or the interconnected nature of decisions. The one-point perspective creates a processional pathway that recalls sacred architectural traditions where linear progression toward a focal terminus symbolizes spiritual journey, pilgrimage, or initiation. The reflective floor surfaces activate the hermetic principle of correspondence—as above, so below—creating visual unity between celestial and terrestrial planes. Water symbolism pervades through the flowing floor patterns and liquid-like terminal sculpture, suggesting fluidity, purification, and the unconscious depths from which significant choices emerge. The overall spatial composition proposes that commercial engagement need not be merely transactional but can participate in deeper human experiences of wonder, transformation, and meaningful passage.
The design of the Guangzhou Zhujiang Tianli Sales Center aims to bridge the gap between art and design, fashion and architecture, creating an experience center that is both functional and artistic. The ambiance of the entire space is crafted through a science-fiction and ultra-futuristic experiential creation, employing thematic compositions to simulate the adventure of time travel. By confronting individuals with the vastness of the universe, it ignites curiosity about the existence of life, thereby creating an immersive experiential space.
