The architectural language of Yixian Chen's 5S Store deploys timber as a primary signifying material, encoding associations with natural warmth, craftsmanship heritage, and organic authenticity that counterbalance the technological precision of the automotive products within. The diagonal orientation of the ceiling lattice creates directional energy that may symbolize forward movement, progress, and dynamic aspiration, qualities traditionally associated with automotive culture and mobility. The triadic material vocabulary of wood, white surface, and polished metal establishes a symbolic hierarchy where organic natural elements provide grounding context for manufactured technological objects, suggesting harmony between human craft traditions and contemporary engineering achievement. The reflective black flooring functions as a symbolic threshold, a liminal surface that simultaneously grounds the vehicles while suggesting infinite depth, perhaps evoking the road as space of possibility and journey. The integration of linear light elements within the timber structure might be interpreted as representing the fusion of traditional and contemporary values, where illumination emerges from within natural material rather than imposing upon it from external sources. The entire project is designed based on a unique and penetrating circular motion line. The ceilings on the first and second floors are covered with blue acrylic transparent panels. The shape not only symbolizes the dynamic driving trajectory of BMW racing cars, but also means flowing water ripples, echoing the water landscape composed of a water curtain and a pool. BMW's iconic three-color slash bar becomes a partition and stands proudly on the waterside, with the noumenon and mirror blended together perfectly, making people experience the movement in static state.
