Golden A' Design Award Winner 2024
Within this hospitality environment, the symbolic vocabulary speaks to the enduring human desire for spaces that balance celestial aspiration with earthly comfort, geometric order with organic vitality. The luminous ceiling grid may be read as an architectural interpretation of the cosmic order, its concentric rectangles suggesting sacred geometry, the nested squares echoing mandala structures found across contemplative traditions as representations of the universe's fundamental harmony and the journey from periphery to center. The warm golden-ochre palette of the ceiling panels evokes associations with sun-baked earth, terracotta, and Mediterranean warmth, grounding the celestial geometry in terrestrial hospitality traditions. The violet-to-magenta chromatic field surrounding the bar activates associations with twilight, mystery, and transformation, the threshold hour between day and night when ordinary spaces become enchanted and conviviality flourishes. The cascading floral sculpture at left introduces archetypal garden symbolism, the hortus conclusus or enclosed garden that has represented sanctuary, cultivation, and sensory pleasure across cultural traditions. Velvet upholstery in dusty rose and burgundy carries connotations of luxury, intimacy, and sensual comfort, while the geometry of table arrangements creates a democratic field where individual dining parties maintain intimacy within communal celebration. The arched niches with trailing greenery reference both classical architectural vocabulary and the persistent human longing to integrate nature within constructed environments. Glass block elements invoke modernist transparency while softening daylight into ethereal diffusion. The floor pattern arabesques suggest cultural heritage and craft tradition, anchoring contemporary innovation within historical continuity. Through these layered symbolic systems, the space communicates welcome, sophistication, and the timeless ritual of gathering around food, light, and companionship.
The Norblin Factory, a 2-hectare site in Warsaw's Wola district, holds a unique history. Formerly neglected, it's now a bustling city hub featuring offices, shops, restaurants, cafes, Food Town, an eco-bazaar, a boutique cinema, and an open-air museum. This museum commemorates the history of one of the largest industrial enterprises in the former Kingdom of Poland. Notably, the factory's main production area, once dedicated to cutlery, has been transformed into a distinctive restaurant, seamlessly blending the industrial past with modern spaces.
