Xiagushuyu Commercial Space Design's retail environment operates as a sophisticated symbolic text integrating celestial, architectural, and chromatic sign systems into unified spatial narrative. The overhead lunar sphere functions as cosmic anchor, its cratered surface evoking traditional associations between moon imagery and cyclical celebration, renewal, and familial gathering. This celestial body, framed by radiating red triangular forms suggesting temple roof profiles, establishes vertical axis mundi connecting earthly commercial activity with transcendent cosmic order. The vermillion chromatic choice carries dense cultural coding, traditionally associated with vitality, good fortune, protective power, and ceremonial significance, here deployed at environmental scale to transform commercial passage into celebratory procession. The bilateral symmetry organizing the space invokes classical principles of balanced order found in sacred architecture across traditions, the mirrored bracket systems creating sense of formal ceremony around the central processional axis. Pendant lantern forms add temporal symbolism, their amber glow suggesting illumination both literal and metaphorical, light as guidance, warmth as welcome, fire as transformation. The teal ceiling introduces complementary chromatic symbolism, this cooler hue traditionally associated with immortality, spring, growth, and eastern directional orientation, providing essential balance to dominant warm palette. The escalator as central element transforms functional circulation into symbolic ascent, the act of moving upward through this layered architectural space becoming metaphorical journey toward aspiration and achievement. Lattice screens with their geometric perforations reference traditional craft wisdom regarding light modulation and visual layering, their patterns carrying associations with interconnection and cosmic order. The overall compositional hierarchy, with celestial sphere crowning the space, traditional architecture framing passage, and human movement occupying the central axis, proposes symbolic cosmology where commercial activity participates in larger cultural and cosmic narratives.

This project is not just a collection of building, but also a fusion of cultural heritage and innovation. Deeply intertwining traditional culture with modern commercial concepts, the design team has approached the local history and cultural characteristics of Beijing with an innovative mindset, from which the core elements of commercial blocks were extracted to form the themed framework, aiming to make XY Toutiao a new and profound cultural and commercial landmark in Beijing.
