MEVARIS DESIGN AND ART GALLERY's The Dome Ring operates as a sophisticated symbolic synthesis where architectural heritage, celestial cartography, and feminine adornment converge into wearable meaning. The hemispherical form carries profound archetypal resonance across cultures, representing the cosmic vault, the protective canopy of heaven, and humanity's aspiration toward transcendence through geometric perfection. Mother-of-pearl as material choice deepens this symbolic register, connecting to lunar associations, oceanic mysteries, and the alchemical transformation of irritant into iridescent beauty that pearl-producing mollusks achieve. The intersecting meridian lines crossing the dome's surface evoke both the navigator's globe mapping earthly territories and the armillary sphere tracking celestial movements, suggesting the wearer as one who holds cosmographic knowledge close. Rose gold as the containing metal carries warmth symbolism associated with compassion, nurturing, and the rosy light of dawn or dusk, liminal moments when veils between worlds thin. The dome's protective symbolism transforms when scaled to finger size, becoming talismanic rather than architectural, an intimate reminder of shelter and sacred geometry carried through daily life. The companion teardrop ring with its champagne diamond speaks to tears transformed into treasure, emotional depth crystallized into enduring beauty, its spiral pavé pattern echoing the mathematical sequences found throughout nature from nautilus shells to galaxy arms. The gesture of hand touching heart area reinforces readings of self-possession, inner treasure, and the intimate relationship between adornment and identity. The number two, represented by the paired rings, suggests balance, partnership, and the creative tension between complementary forces. Compositionally, the diagonal hand placement creates dynamic energy while the vertical dome and teardrop forms establish aspirational upward movement, encoding themes of elevation and refinement within the visual structure itself.
The design takes its inspirations from the unique blend of Greek, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman architectures. The Dome ring, as unique in its design that it is a modern interpretation of famous Domes of Hagia Sophia. The design is an outcome of the Phd research that Fatma Altinbas had held in Grand Bazaar for 2 years, about the history of jewellery manufacturing in the area. The Dome ring is crafted from 18-carat rose gold and adorned with a total of 0.22 carats of G color, VS1 clarity diamonds, both on the inside and outside.
