Sialk Multi Patterns Wood Flooring

Silver A' Design Award Winner 2025

Sahar Bakhtiari Rad's design for the Sialk Multi Patterns Wood Flooring operates through a sophisticated system of visual and material signification that interweaves references to landscape, heritage craft traditions, and contemporary spatial philosophy. The wave motif functions as a primary symbolic carrier, traditionally associated across cultures with the fundamental rhythms of natural phenomena, from water and wind to geological strata and temporal cycles, suggesting the continuity between human-made environments and the broader natural order from which building materials originate. The herringbone pattern itself carries deep iconographic resonance within architectural history, appearing in ancient floor mosaics and representing enduring human impulses toward geometric ordering and the creation of visual rhythm within inhabited space. By introducing organic undulation into this historically rectilinear format, the design proposes a symbolic reconciliation between rational geometric discipline and the inherently irregular patterns found throughout the natural world. The chevron or arrow-like silhouette may evoke archetypal directional symbolism, suggesting movement, aspiration, or threshold crossing, transforming the floor plane into a symbolic pathway or journey marker. Color semiotics reinforce themes of warmth, welcome, and organic authenticity, the amber and honey tones carrying cultural associations with natural materials, craftsmanship heritage, and domestic comfort across numerous traditions. The title's reference to Sialk suggests archaeological and heritage dimensions, perhaps evoking the layered accumulation of human material culture and the continuity between ancient craft knowledge and contemporary design innovation. The contrast between the warm wood and cool concrete substrate creates a symbolic dialogue between organic and industrial, traditional and contemporary, handcraft and manufactured material, positioning the design as a mediating element that bridges these categorical distinctions while celebrating the expressive potential inherent in thoughtful material selection and formal experimentation.

Highlighting the softness and freedom by free forms and lines in a natural context in praise of culture and tradition of ancient. This is the philosophy of this design. Changing the previous mentality to the new vision, imagination and re-thinking on the patterns of wood floors to inter the modern life style. Sialk is a unique eco-friendly, water proof wood flooring which is combines with a completed shape and two pieces of this figure formed along each other and specialized to give the chance to anyone to have four choices for pattern the floors.
