T Haven Apartment Living

Silver A' Design Award Winner 2025

Within Adrian Hung's T Haven Apartment Living, the circular dining table functions as a mandala of domestic communion, its form invoking ancient associations between the circle and concepts of wholeness, equality, and eternal return that transcend cultural boundaries while resonating particularly within Asian philosophical traditions where round tables eliminate hierarchy among gathered guests. The clustering of spherical pendant lights above this circular anchor creates a vertical axis mundi, connecting the earthly plane of nourishment with celestial suggestion, their reflective chrome surfaces serving as contemporary interpretations of the cosmic mirror that in various traditions represents both self-knowledge and connection to larger universal orders. The enveloping wood paneling activates archetypal associations with the protective forest, the nurturing tree, the crafted vessel carved from living material, transforming the rectangular room into something approaching the primordial cave or womb space where human community first gathered around shared sustenance. The curved millwork elements at rear suggest organic growth, wave motion, or the unfurling of bark, introducing biomorphic vitality within the geometric container. The chromatic progression from warm amber woods through neutral gray textiles to cool metallic aubergine traces a temperature journey from earth to sky, from material to ethereal, from the warmth of gathered bodies to the cool reflection of transcendent observation. The number eight, manifest in the chair count, carries auspicious associations in certain cultural frameworks with prosperity, balance, and infinite flow. The integrated lazy susan mechanism transforms the table into a kinetic symbol of circulation and sharing, embodying values of generosity and communal abundance through functional design. This space ultimately encodes a philosophy of gathering that honors both the practical requirements of dining and the deeper human need for ceremonial spaces where everyday acts assume ritual significance.

The project involves designing and constructing a spacious apartment. This residence will feature multiple bedrooms, bathrooms and various living spaces to meet the needs of a modern family. The design will focus on creating a comfortable, functional and aesthetically pleasing environment. A floating staircase will serve as a highlight, drawing visitors attention as they explore the art pieces displayed around the room. This blend of art, design and functionality will create a unique and inviting atmosphere for visitors.
