What Next Brand Identity

Silver A' Design Award Winner 2025

Directional symbolism permeates Marko Stanojevic's What Next Brand Identity through the strategic deployment of arrow forms that encode forward momentum, progression, and anticipatory energy within the visual system. The chevron and arrow shapes positioned adjacent to the typography function as universal wayfinding symbols translated into brand vernacular, their rightward orientation aligning with Western reading direction to suggest advancement, continuation, and the perpetual pursuit of future possibilities that the interrogative brand name explicitly invokes. The triangular geometry of these directional elements carries archetypal associations with aspiration, ascension, and dynamic force, the pointed apex concentrating visual energy into a focused vector that propels the viewer's attention beyond the immediate frame toward implied horizons. Typographic choices contribute additional layers of encoded meaning, where the bold condensed letterforms suggest compression of essential information into maximally efficient visual form, communicating values of clarity, decisiveness, and intellectual rigor through pure form language. The stacked arrangement of the two-word brand name creates a vertical hierarchy that may be read as temporal sequence or causal relationship, the upper word establishing a questioning framework that the lower word resolves into forward-oriented inquiry. The monochromatic palette of absolute black against pure white operates within color psychology frameworks associating these poles with certainty, authority, sophistication, and timeless elegance, while their stark opposition embodies the binary clarity of decisive thinking. The diagonal presentation of the paper substrate introduces dynamic instability into the otherwise static composition, suggesting that interrogation inherently destabilizes complacency and initiates movement toward new understanding. The interplay between rigid geometric typography and the organic curl of physical paper material speaks to the mediation between abstract concept and tangible reality, between intellectual inquiry and material consequence, positioning the brand identity as a bridge between questioning and action, between present uncertainty and future discovery.

Final visual outcome is reached by taking a symbol and turning it into a question mark by placing it on a smaller square below (an extracted 1/4 piece of a big square above it) and putting it on a tipping point while remaining in balance, creating a visual sensation of tension with a minimal rearrangement of elements. What Next logo, as well as the name, are in a way an oxymoron, a question and an answer both at once, creating friction. On its own, logo-sign is a simple, deliberate imperfection and a straight-forward communication vessel, striving to create a lot with little effort invested.
