Get Space

Golden A' Design Award Winner 2025

Xinxing Wu's Get Space articulates a rich symbolic vocabulary through its orchestration of light, material, and form, encoding meanings that resonate with both universal archetypes and contemporary cultural values. The predominant warm amber illumination carries deep associations across cultures with hospitality, welcome, and the hearth fire that has historically signified human gathering and community since antiquity, transforming the commercial structure into a beacon of invitation and social congregation. The vertical louver elements, repeated in rhythmic procession across the facade, evoke the archetypal symbolism of the threshold and the screen, mediating between interior sanctuary and exterior public realm, between the known and the unknown, their filtering of light suggesting both protection and permeability. The stepped, ascending composition of building volumes traces an upward trajectory that traditionally symbolizes aspiration, achievement, and progressive elevation, each terrace representing a stage in ascent toward higher states, while simultaneously grounding the composition through substantial horizontal bands that speak to stability and earthly presence. The contrast between warm architectural illumination and cool twilight sky enacts the primordial dialogue between fire and water, day and night, activity and rest, creating a visual harmony of complementary opposites that speaks to balanced existence. The colonnade at ground level, with its rhythmic procession of vertical supports, references classical architectural traditions of the agora and the forum, spaces of civic discourse and commercial exchange that have shaped human social organization for millennia. The geometric precision of the canopy grid overlaying organic human activity below suggests the rational ordering of experience, the architectural frame providing structure within which spontaneous life unfolds. The reflective glass surfaces, capturing and returning the surrounding environment, may be interpreted as symbols of transparency, openness, and the reciprocal relationship between building and context, interior and exterior worlds in continuous dialogue.

Get Space masterfully integrates light and architecture, creating an immersive environment that fosters interaction, creativity, belonging, and cultural identity. The design employs cutting edge Led technology and adaptive controls to deliver precision illumination, balancing aesthetics, energy efficiency, and environmental compliance. By minimizing light spill and glare, it sets a new standard for sustainable urban lighting. Since its launch, Get Space has attracted 130,000 visitors in three days, earning widespread acclaim as a transformative model for vibrant, inclusive communities.
