Golden A' Design Award Winner 2025

The symbolic architecture of Li Xiang's retail environment operates as an elaborate visual language encoding meanings of transformation, celebration, and democratic pleasure within the commercial sphere. The arrow motifs function as universal directional symbols suggesting forward movement, aspiration, and guided discovery, their curving trajectories around the central circular form creating a mandala-like configuration that invites circumambulation and contemplation even within a transactional context. The concentric circular geometry evokes archetypal associations with wholeness, cosmic order, and cyclical return, suggesting that the pleasures offered within this space participate in recurring patterns of delight rather than finite consumption. The striped canopy directly references carnival tent architecture, activating cultural memories of fairground festivities, circus spectacles, and temporary zones of licensed pleasure where ordinary rules yield to extraordinary experience. This threshold symbolism transforms the retail environment into liminal space between everyday obligation and festive release. The chromatic strategy carries substantial symbolic weight: the saturated reds pulse with vitality, passion, and energy; the cool blues provide calming counterbalance suggesting trust and stability; the purples connote creativity, imagination, and the magical transformation of ordinary objects into desirable treasures; while the gradient yellows and greens suggest growth, freshness, and optimistic abundance. The checkerboard floor pattern references game boards and play spaces, encoding the shopping experience as recreational activity rather than labor. The plush merchandise displayed abundantly throughout carries symbolic associations with comfort, nurturing, emotional solace, and the tactile pleasures of softness in an increasingly digital world. The mirror-like floor reflection creates symbolic doubling that speaks to themes of illusion, fantasy, and the constructed nature of desire, while simultaneously expanding perceived abundance through visual multiplication. The overall spatial rhetoric positions commerce as celebration, transforming transaction into theatrical experience and encoding the message that life itself might aspire toward joyful play.

Within the three story space of Miniso Land, there are six major areas and over seventy types of co-branded products from various IP worlds. Designer achieve a fusion of category diversity and space utilization efficiency by setting up diversified situational zones, avoiding the dullness that traditional repetitive shopping experiences may bring. From the blind box area that seems like in pink bubbles, the comprehensive area with a montage visual effect, the pet area and fragrance area with various senses of nature, to the plush area that feels like entering a fairy tale world.
