Journeylink Multi Vehicle Car Infotainment

Golden A' Design Award Winner 2025

The symbolic architecture of this automotive interface design encodes a sophisticated visual language celebrating journey as communal narrative rather than mere spatial translation. The dominant cartographic element functions as contemporary map symbolism, traditionally representing knowledge, exploration, and the human impulse to understand territory, here transformed into luminous data visualization that suggests technological mastery over geographic uncertainty. The magenta-violet route line carries chromatic significance associated with creativity, transformation, and the liminal space between departure and arrival, its serpentine form echoing archetypal river symbolism representing life's flow and the passage of time. Circular avatar elements arranged vertically invoke traditional heraldic compositions where figures of importance occupy hierarchical positions, here democratized into a horizontal social network where fellow travelers maintain visual presence throughout the journey. The forest photograph embedded within the interface activates pastoral symbolism associated with retreat, renewal, and the natural sublime, creating meaningful dialogue between technological navigation and organic destination. Numerical displays presenting distance, time, and locations visited function as contemporary vanitas elements, marking the passage of experience and inviting reflection on journeys completed. The warm amber and coral accent colors selected for key statistics carry associations with hospitality, welcome, and human warmth, counterbalancing the cool technological blues that might otherwise suggest emotional distance. The threshold position of this interface, situated between the enclosed vehicle interior and the open landscape beyond the windshield, embodies liminal symbolism where travelers occupy transitional space between origin and destination, between individual experience and shared memory. The integration of photographic documentation within navigational utility suggests cultural values prioritizing experience capture and social sharing, transforming travel from private movement into communal storytelling worthy of preservation and celebration.

Journeylink is an in-car infotainment system supporting multivehicle coordination for group road trips. Through iterative layout testing, a card-based UI was optimized for driver accessibility. Features include real time location sharing, collaborative navigation and voice messaging. A prioritized notification system minimizes distractions by displaying alerts based on urgency. Additional tools such as view capture and trip memory support interactive yet safe travel experiences. The design emphasizes information hierarchy, accessibility, and seamless operation in fast-paced driving contexts.
