Project Nazare Sailing Yacht

Golden A' Design Award Winner 2025

Onur Kiren's Project Nazare Sailing Yacht operates within a rich vocabulary of archetypal and cultural associations that position the sailing vessel as a powerful carrier of meaning across human civilizations. The yacht as symbolic form evokes humanity's eternal dialogue with elemental forces, the sea representing both opportunity and challenge, the wind embodying unseen energies harnessed through human ingenuity, and the vessel itself functioning as a threshold object mediating between the terrestrial realm of certainty and the aquatic domain of transformation and possibility. The luminous white hull carries associations of purity, aspiration, and transcendence found across numerous cultural traditions, while also suggesting the contemporary values of refinement, technological achievement, and considered luxury that inform premium design. The vertical mast with its radiating rigging may evoke archetypal tree imagery, the axis mundi connecting earthly and celestial realms, or perhaps the architectural column signifying human imposition of order upon natural chaos. The triangular geometries implied by the rigging configuration resonate with symbolic traditions associating the triangle with aspiration, dynamic balance, and transformative energy. The vessel's horizontal emphasis and sweeping curves suggest forward momentum and purposeful direction even in stillness, embodying the archetype of the journey and the promise of destinations yet unreached. The chromatic relationship between the warm vessel and cool surrounding waters establishes a figure-ground dynamic that positions human creation as distinct yet harmoniously integrated within natural context. The pennant at stern functions as a marker of identity and belonging, while the sheltering canopy suggests sanctuary and domestic comfort carried into wilderness. The calm sea state depicted invites meditation on moments of pause between passages, the vessel as container of potential energy awaiting activation. This design may ultimately be understood as celebrating enduring human values of craftsmanship, adventure, freedom, and the aesthetic pleasure derived from objects that achieve functional elegance.

Inspired by the waves of Nazare in Portugal, this 24meter sailboat offers a modern design with a metallic gray hull and black and orange details. The seating areas on the open deck integrate with the main design lines and provide comfort and functionality for guests. The panoramic glass roof illuminates the interior, which can accommodate up to 10 guests, with natural light. The tender garage at the stern transforms into a swimming platform. The elegant hull increases speed and stability, while the advanced sail system ensures maximum efficiency from the wind.
