Heaven Bloom kinetic installation

Golden A' Design Award Winner 2021

WHYIXD's Kinetic Installation encodes rich symbolic content through its deliberate formal choices, material selections, and spatial relationships, functioning as an architectural allegory for organic growth, cyclical transformation, and the sacred geometry underlying natural phenomena. The diamond or lozenge configuration carries archetypal significance across numerous traditions, representing the intersection of earthly and celestial realms, the womb of creation, or the alchemical vessel where transformation occurs. Individual floret units, each composed of radiating petals arranged in umbrella formations, evoke universal symbols of protection, shelter, and the unfurling of potential into manifestation, recalling both botanical seed dispersal mechanisms and ceremonial parasols signifying honor in various cultural traditions. The chromatic progression from warm golden-bronze through neutral pewter to cool silver-white maps readily onto seasonal cycles, suggesting autumn harvest transitioning through winter dormancy, or alternatively the alchemical progression through stages of transformation from base matter toward refined essence. Numerologically, the multiplication of individual units into collective form speaks to principles of emergence, where simple repeated elements generate complex patterns, mirroring mathematical concepts found throughout natural growth including phyllotaxis and Fibonacci sequences. The vertical orientation, cascading downward from ceiling toward floor, invokes imagery of blessing, abundance, or divine beneficence flowing from celestial to terrestrial realms, while the mirror reflection above suggests the hermetic principle of correspondence between upper and lower worlds. Marble as backdrop contributes its own symbolic freight, representing permanence, refinement, and the transformation of raw geological material into cultural artifact, while its organic veining provides visual rhyme suggesting that nature and artifice share common formal languages. The overall effect positions viewers within a threshold space between natural and technological, eternal and temporal, inviting contemplation of humanity's relationship with organic processes mediated through precision craft.

“Heaven Bloom” is located in the lobby of a building which was designed with concept of nature. The installation is composed of 144 mechanical metal flowers which were made of aluminium and stainless steel, different finishes were applied to metal in order to produce special textures and colors. The metal flowers will be in bloom out of the surface and become a dynamic piece collocated with the ambient sounds. Different patterns and movements allow flowers create a near-natural scenario indoors, building a simulation of a phenomena in nature.
